Happenings.

Lately, there have been a few happenings going on around our household.  On Thursday, I got to experience my first Open House as a teacher.  We have been spending a lot of time as a class in preparation for this big evening where parents come to see all their child's work they have done this year, plus a few projects. Here is what my room looked like:

The students created a big life cycle of a butterfly to go in the tree on the other side of the room.
Although this isn't the greatest image because of the lighting, my students created the cutest ladybugs with the life cycle of a ladybug hidden under the wings!
Oh yes, and miniature trees! They created these to describe how to plant a tree.
Additionally, each student created a movie entitled 'First Grade' which showed the scenes from a typical day in first grade.  They were pretty cute!  That being said, grab a snack, and.... Lights! Camera! Action!
Wish I could show you my lovely kiddos and closer ups of their projects!  I also have wonderful news that I might be teaching at a Chinese School this summer teaching English! One of my parents approached me with the teaching position and I will be going on Wednesday to check out the program.  Is God so good or what? He knew I was looking for something to do this summer and then this just falls right into my lap. I am blessed!  So this was my big happening.

Then on Saturday, my wonderful husband graduated with a degree in Political Science.

And of course, we have to have the group graduates photo!
Each is headed of to a new life adventure, but I hope they all stay connected and are able to have get togethers every so often.  My friends and I have talked about taking a vacation together once a year and I hope they will be able to do the same.  Maybe a hiking or backpacking trip once a year? They would love it! God has dearly blessed us with many wonderful friends who all have the same goal in mind: To impact the world for the Lord Jesus Christ!  What better mission could there be?! We are excited to see where God will lead us in the years to come.

I just told my principal and first grade team I will most likely not be coming back next year because the Lord is leading Brian and I to Texas for Brian's pilot's training.  I know God has something wonderful in store for Brian and I am hopeful that he has something in mind for me as well there.  I'm applying for jobs and searching for teaching positions around our base.  I guess our life will never be dull in the Air Force.  Commissioning for Brian will be this coming Saturday and Brian is stoked! He has been waiting for this day for a very long time. He is ready for his life long dream to become a reality: A pilot in the Air Force!

New Look

New look with some new pics! Wahoo.  I have been meaning to share a few pictures of our life lately so here they come.    This weekend, Brian and I went to his Graduation Dinner as he is graduating a week from today!

While we are both excited to move on to the next adventure, I know he will really miss the friends he has made so many memories with over the last four years at Biola.  Realizing that they are all about to graduate and move on, they have been trying to get in as many Axis and Allies, video games, and hang out time as much as they can get with each other.  We are fortunate that a couple will be here for the summer with us and we have many weddings coming up to bring them all together.  Summer is one week away for Brian and just four weeks away for me!

Can you believe I have almost survived my first year of teaching?!  Wow, God has been so good to me.  Blessing me with a class full of sponges who love to learn and soak everything in.  And even I first grade class which was my secret wish but believe me, I would have been thankful for anything!  We will see what happens next year.  Reliance upon God is where I have to rest in.  (A good faith builder).  Open House is this week and I will try to post some pictures once it is finished.  I posted a few on my facebook.

Today has been a fairly busy day.  Brian and I went to Sears this morning to check on some tools for him and I had to pick up a gift for a bridal shower.  Then I headed to the shower while Brian went, yes, to hang out with the guys!  After the shower, I took a nap and then we both went on a motorcycle ride with one of Brian's friends.  It was very calming and peaceful to drive through the hills and see green along with the beautiful flowers in bloom.  Now we are just cooking up some dinner and ready for a relaxing evening.  I'm thankful for these days.

{Adjusting}

Yep, this is the phase and season of life that I am in.  Adjusting. Lots of things changing, lots of things happening, and many things up in the air! I know that is pretty vague but I will go into more detail later.  For now, just know I'm am trying to adjust to it all and figure it all out.  I've heard the teacher personality tends to want to control and while I want to take over, I know that God has to be in control through it all so that his good can be done.  I know he has good in store for both Brian and I.  I just have to trust and roll with everything as it comes... and believe me lots of adjustments are coming.  And I'm thankful Brian is by my side through it all!

May!

May is here. Time has steadily sped by and I’m happy that May is here. I love the sun shining, seeing the cute ducklings in our little creeks, and the beautiful flowers. May is sure to be a big month for Brian as he finishes his last four weeks of his undergrad and graduates! I’m excited to share in all the festivities with him. I just have to get some cute little dresses for all the events. And I realize I haven't shared pictures in a while... so I'm hoping to post some soon! Happy May!
