{The Heights}

What a wonderful day we had today! This morning I woke up at 7:30, threw together a quiche and then snuggled back in bed for 45 minutes while it cooked. It was fun making breakfast and we enjoyed our morning before we headed church. Its always special to put a little extra effort into breakfast! The message was good at church, and afterwards, since we had the motorcycle, we headed for a ride in the heights: Hacienda Heights, La Habra Heights, and surrounding area.

The ride was gorgeous. Very green and almost made me believe I was no longer in the city, almost. But in a way, the city has grown on me. On the ride, there is a spot where you can see the city I teach in and it makes me feel proud. Proud because I have a role in the community, a city community. I teach students and work with families, and collaborate with other teachers. It is a unique feeling. Then on the other side, you can see LA. It is a fun ride. However, I still love the country because that is where I grew up and spent all my childhood. Something about open space and no smog!

Following our trip we went to a delicious lunch at Josh and Cait's. A great time with friends! I'm wishing this weekend could keep going, but tomorrow begins another week. School here I come...

Friday has come and I couldn't be more pleased...

I'm very thankful it's Friday. Yes, I had Monday off for the holiday. Yes, it was only a four day week. But yes, I do love the weekend. Work was good, lots of things to learn and implement. I'm thankful to have my wonderful job. My students each challenge me in different ways, some challenges I love, some not quite as much. I've come to realize though, that each student was placed in my classroom for a reason and God has selected me as their teacher. I love each student and I'm thankful to be teaching!

Update for the Juola's: our apartment is finally feeling set up, only one box remaining to put away. We have a nice living room, dining room, kitchen, and bedroom. And surprisingly we have quite a few decorations up. I love sharing a home and feeling like the home is ours. Brian made an amazing fish dinner last night. I was exhausted and he asked me to pick up salmon after school last night... and because I love him, I picked it up (I detest grocery shopping after a long day at work). When I got home, he had bought all of he ingredients for a new recipes, plus some recipes for other nights that we had talked about making. Additionally, he had ear marked pages he thought we should try out. Do I have an awesome husband or what? I love cooking with him! And last night was a treat that he cooked for me. It was delicious! I rested while he cooked and we savored every bite of our food just enjoying and loving the company as well.

When I got home tonight, I enjoyed the leftovers and wished he was here with me as he does not get home until late on Friday nights. I'm thinking about putting on a good movie and relaxing on our comfy couch... yes, love the weekends.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that my good friend, Kristen, is coming over tonight! She recently got married as well. I can't wait. Swap some stories, enjoy the company, and the blessings of friendship.

Life for me, life for us. I'll post again soon.

Life on the Married Side

Wow! I love married life. It fits us perfectly! We enjoyed a week in beautiful Cabo touring the towns, soaking up the sun, laying by the pool, enjoying a sunset cruise, and just relaxing and enjoying each others company. It was perfect! And we got to spend our first Christmas over there as well, then we returned to Arizona for time with my family over New Year's. It was great to have the time for more relaxing and good times with family. We enjoyed many games of pinnacle, lots of puzzles, and Brian played some Frisbee golf.

Then we headed back to California on the 2nd to begin setting up our apartment and I headed back to work on the 3rd to teach my first graders! It has been a bit of a whirlwind since returning to California with teaching and setting up our home, but we are thoroughly enjoying ourselves. Brian has become quite the decorator! Everyday I come home from school, something else has been set up. The first day, he set up our table with place mats and beautiful flowers in the center. Am I lucky or what? Then he set up our night stand and coffee table and side tables with decor. I have to say he has pretty good taste! I know I married a wonderful guy! He also found an amazing fridge off of Craig's List that is just like new. Along with a cozy couch. We're still searching for a microwave (or Brian is still searching). I have just been rolling with everything since I'm at school all day. My job is to come home and unpack a few boxes every night. So far, I haven't done too bad. Although last night, I had to bring a load of homework packets to correct.

So that is the life of the Juola's... wonderful and blessed! We even slept on a twin mattress the first night while we were still waiting for our mattress to be delivered! Thankfully, we now have our queen mattress with room for both of us. More stories to come and pictures as well! I'm using Brian's computer so I can't upload my pictures... but hopefully soon!
